Sound familiar?

Know plenty of words, but sentences just won't come out right?

That's the most common place to get stuck. This is exactly where we focus on real, confident speaking, not just vocabulary. Fair warning: I'll make sure you're speaking Dutch during the lesson, no hiding behind English!

Dutch for expats

Hey expat! You talk in English all day at work, but you struggle to talk in Dutch with your son's teacher at school?

That's exactly where we practice: real situations based on your own life, with a focus on real life speaking.

New here?

Just starting with Dutch?

We start with the basics. Every lesson mixes grammar, speaking, reading and listening, and after each lesson you get homework, so it actually sticks.

About your teacher

Hi, I'm Veerle.

I'm a native Dutch speaker, but I used to find learning a new language really hard myself. English was actually my worst subject at school! These days I love it. I'm currently learning Spanish and Indonesian, and what I enjoy most is picking up a new word and then using it myself in real life. That's when it actually sticks, and it's exactly the approach I bring to my own lessons.

I love passing on what I know, and even more, giving you a genuinely fun lesson. A bit of humour goes a long way, it's what makes you actually want to keep learning.

What sets me apart? I focus heavily on speaking. During the lesson I talk as much as possible in Dutch, at a calm, easy to follow pace, and I motivate you to speak back in Dutch too. That's what makes you familiar with the language so much faster.

FAQ

Good to know.

What if something comes up and I can't make it?

Life happens! Cancel or reschedule up to 6 hours before your lesson, free of charge, and we'll find a new time that works.

Do I get a certificate at the end?

No, these lessons focus on real, usable Dutch rather than formal certification. But if you really want one, I'll make you one!

What do I need before my first lesson?

Nothing to prepare. On your free intro call, we'll do a short test to find your level and talk through what you want to focus on. From there, I put together lesson materials made specifically for you (coffee or tea during the lesson is highly encouraged).

Do I need any special software or materials?

Just a computer or tablet with Google Meet, which is free to use. There's nothing to buy. All lesson materials are handmade by me.

Can I choose when my lessons are?

Yes. Lessons are available every day of the week, Monday through Sunday. You choose the time that works best for you.

Can I do multiple lessons in one week?

Yes, you decide the pace and the schedule.

Can you help me with the inburgeringsexamen?

Yes. If your goal is passing the inburgeringsexamen (civic integration exam), tell me during your intro call and I'll shape your lessons and homework around exactly those skills.
